N Band Filters from Andover Corporation are specialized astronomical bandpass filters designed for precise imaging and observation in the N band of the mid-infrared spectrum. These single substrate filters isolate specific wavelengths around 10 microns, a region critical for thermal infrared astronomy and the study of cool celestial objects.
Engineered with exceptional precision, these filters provide high transmission in the desired wavelength range while offering OD3 blocking of unwanted radiation. They're typically used with microbolometer IR detectors having spectral response between 7500 and 14500nm. The durable construction makes them ideal for both room temperature applications and liquid nitrogen cooled microbolometers, with a wavelength shift of approximately 1 percent when cooled from room temperature to -196 degrees C. These filters perform optimally when your specification requires the isolation of narrow spectral regions in astronomical studies, allowing researchers to detect thermal radiation from planets, dust clouds, and distant galaxies with minimal atmospheric interference.
