MKO Filters from Andover Corporation are precision bandpass filters manufactured to match the standardized photometric specifications established by the Mauna Kea Observatories. Designed for accuracy and consistency in near-infrared astronomy, these filters minimize atmospheric absorption effects and enable reliable cross-observatory calibration.
Andover’s current MKO offerings include filters for the J, H, and K bands, each fabricated with high-durability coatings on single substrates. These filters provide high in-band transmission and OD3 out-of-band blocking, making them well-suited for cryogenically cooled detector systems operating in observatories, telescopes, and research instruments.
With precise center wavelength control and minimal thermal shift under cryogenic conditions, our MKO filters are ideal for imaging faint celestial objects such as exoplanets, brown dwarfs, and distant galaxies. Custom sizes and mounting options are available to meet specific instrumentation or payload requirements.
